We-Ko-Pa Golf Club's Saguaro Course in Scottsdale
The Saguaro Course at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club is the newest of two 18-hole championship golf courses at the club, originally home to the Cholla Course.
Both We-Ko-Pa golf courses are considered among the Valley of the Sun's best, thanks to being built on the Yavapai Nation reservation, where no real estate intrudes on the golf course and never will, according to course officials. This means every hole has beautiful Sonoran desert and McDowell Mountain views and plenty of peace and quiet.
We-Ko-Pa's Saguaro Course opened in 2006 and was designed by the team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, who built a walker-friendly course where most tees are usually just footsteps from the green. The course was laid out naturally along the desert terrain and has a wonderful, rolling look that never looks very manufactured.
We-Ko-Pa Golf Club is a favorite of locals, who score great last-minute resident rates here. For the rest of us, We-Ko-Pa is still one of the better values in the Valley of the Sun compared to Scottsdale's high-end courses.
