Mountain Course at Ventana Canyon Golf and Racquet Club in Tucson
The Mountain Course is one of two Tom Fazio designs built at Ventana Canyon Golf and Racquet Club in 1984. While both are similarly dramatic desert golf courses, the Mountain has made a name for itself due to one hole: the short, par-3 third that plays from an elevated tee box next to boulders, over a ravine to a small green 100 yards away tucked between boulders. The remainder of the course isn't this dramatic, but is a gently rolling test of golf with a collection of water hazards and desert lining most fairways. The 18th hole is another spectacular tee shot, played from an elevated tee about 100 feet up to a narrow fairway.
The Mountain Course at Ventana Canyon Golf and Racquet Club is semi-private, alternating with the Canyon Course as the public course for the day, and is associated with the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort and the smaller Lodge at Ventana Canyon.
