Southern Dunes Golf Club north of Phoenix
Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa is a Fred Couples design that's unlike anything else in Phoenix-Scottsdale golf. The landscape is wide open with few trees in sight.
The tall native grasses are high, thick and punishing. The houses are nonexistent. There's no pool, no tennis courts, no country-club accouterments. The golf course is the only thing that matters here, and it shows in Couples' tough track.
