Coyote golf course at Starr Pass Country Club in Tucson
The Coyote golf course is the most natural of the three nines at the Starr Pass Country Club in Tucson. It winds through desert, with the linked JW Marriott resort largely out of site. Instead you get towering 150-year-old Saguaro cacti and plenty of chances to spray it out of bounds.
Coyote is a set of risk-reward holes from the Arnold Palmer design team. No. 6, a 351-yard par 4 that should make smart golfers take up an iron, is typical - at least, as typical as anything is on this eccentric track. Starr Pass Coyote throws a number of blind shots at you; sometimes the green is only a guess over a hill.
