Located in Laveen, Southern Ridge Golf Club, formerly known as Bougainvillea Golf Club, is conveniently close to the heart of Phoenix. The course wanders through a quiet residential development but you'll still feel far from civilization thanks to the dramatic backdrop provided by the South and Estrella Mountains. The layout has six par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s, a slightly unusual combination of holes for a championship golf course. At 6,751 yards from the back tees, the course offers a fair amount of length and there are some subtle but tricky undulations on the greens. Beginners shouldn't feel too intimidated by the golf course though since the forgiving fairways have plenty of room. They are nice and wide but you still have to play smart since there are more than 50 bunkers strategically surrounding them.

Local course for us - played it for 8yrs. with great enjoyment and great staff, however...today after not playing for 6mos. and on our first 9holes - stopped for short break - "someone who claimed to be a ranger" came by to tell us we were playing too slow, so he was sending two groups ahead of us - no other communication with any ranger prior to that! We had to leave and forego our other 9 holes we paid for and upon telling this information to "the pro on duty (Wed. 1/22/13 - 4:00PM) - he informed me that we had been duped and in the future we need to take the clubhouse phone number and call to make certain we have been given the correct information!?
This is the most unusual situation we have ever seen on ANY GOLF COURSE!? So now we have to monitor the people working there to make sure they are employees? This was the most disappointing, discourteous afternoon of golf!!
